Fabrication and characterization of C-doped anatase TiO$$_{2}$$ photocatalysts

Choi, Y.; Umebayashi, Tsutomu; Yoshikawa, Masahito

Journal of Materials Science, 39(5), p.1837 - 1839, 2004/03

Times Cited Count:227 Percentile:97.9(Materials Science, Multidisciplinary)

Carbon (C)-doped anatase TiO$$_{2}$$ photocatalysts have been prepared by the oxidative annealing of TiC powders at 623 K for 50-100 hrs. From XRD and XPS analysis, it is clear that C is incorporated into O site of the TiO$$_{2}$$ lattice. Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) showed that the optical absorption edge of the C-doped anatase TiO$$_{2}$$ shifted to lower energy compared with that of pure anatase TiO$$_{2}$$. The decomposition of methylene blue (MB) adsorbed on the C-doped sample was observed under a visible light range of 420-500 nm. We conclude that substitution of C for O in the TiO$$_{2}$$ leads to a photocatalytic decomposition of MB under visible light irradiation.

Spectroscopic measurement system for ITER divertor plasma; Divertor impurity monitor

Sugie, Tatsuo; Costley, A. E.*; Malaquias, A.*; Medvedev, A.*; Walker, C.*

Proceedings of 30th EPS Conference on Controlled Fusion and Plasma Physics (CD-ROM), 4 Pages, 2003/07

The main functions of the Divertor Impurity Monitor are to measure the parameters of impurities and isotopes of hydrogen in the divertor plasmas by using spectroscopic techniques in the wavelength range of 200-1000 nm. This system will have three different types of spectrometers; a) Visible survey spectrometers for impurity species monitoring. b) Filter spectrometers for two-dimensional measurements of particle influxes. c) High dispersion spectrometers for measuring the ion temperature and the particle energy distribution. The divertor region will be observed from the divertor-, the equatorial- and the upper-port. Optical components, such as mirrors, windows etc, mounted close to the plasma will experience higher levels of radiation due to neutron, gamma ray and/or particle irradiations than in present devices. Therefore, the materials of the components have to be carefully selected and mitigating methods adopted where possible. In addition, in-situ and remote calibration methods for diagnostic systems, which will be installed in the strong radiation field, are absolutely essential.

Improved confinement of neon plasma inside a high-$$T_{c}$$ superconducting tube

Yamauchi, Toshihiko; Matsuzawa, Hidenori*; Mikami, Koji*; Ishikawa, Junichi*

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, Part 1, 41(9), p.5799 - 5800, 2002/09

This paper describes the experimental result of the interaction between a high-Tc superconductor and charged particles (plasma). This study is expected for the interaction between the charged particle and superconductor in the group, high-Tc superconducting wiggler for electron beam of FEL (collaboration with Prof.Matsuzawa) and high-Tc superconducting tube for beam guiding published in the journal "Nature".
